Our Work

Small Business Investments

Midas has assisted hundreds of small business owners expand, hire help, buy equipment, increase working capital, and more. All of these investments align with their new business plans, developed by the business owners with help from our Community Partner Organizations (CPOs). The businesses establish business bank accounts and a savings plan. Midas provides program design consultation, staff training, account management services, financial institution relations, match funding, and data management. The CPOs are the ‘face’ of the program to participants, enrolling, hosting trainings, providing participant support, and funding as well. Sixteen CPOs have hosted the program in partnership with Midas since 2007. Midas provided an incentive of up to 2:1 match for the savings that the owners contributed to their accounts. With 217 graduates, nearly $500,000 has been saved and over $570,000 matched for small business expansion.

Check out our recent Innovative Investments in Microenterprise report - Executive Summary and Full Report; a longitudinal study of the effects of the program on 300+ businesses.
