Choose a position that you think will best suit you:

  • Tax Preparer: Prepare taxes at tax sites. New tax preparers must attend an 8 hour training and must pass the basic certification test. They also have the option of attending an intermediate level training and subsequently take an intermediate level certification test. Certification tests can be taken independently or at a 4 hour testing session. Tax preparers must also indicate which tax site or sites they want to volunteer at, and they must sign up for shifts at that site prior to volunteering.
  • Intake Screener: Greet taxpayers as they enter tax sites, ensure they fill out the appropriate paperwork, and assist them in connecting to the services being offered on-site. On-site training required.
  • Credit Advisor: Reviews credit reports and scores at select tax sites in quick 15-20 minute sessions. As necessary, credit advisors also help to dispute inaccuracies on a report and give advice on how to improve a score. New credit advisors must attend a 3 hour training facilitated by a professional credit counselor.
  • Financial Coach: Offers one-on-one financial coaching year round at three partner sites. This model will focus on the five key services of budgeting, banking information, credit advising, benefit screening and referral assistance. Determined between both the coaches and their participant, these monthly coaching sessions can be at the sites, off site, over the phone, through e-mail, etc. New Financial Coaches must attend a 6 hour training, pass a test and sign a 6 month commitment.
  • Tax Site Coordinator: Only select this option if you an authorized Tax Site Coordinator with an MTAC or Boston EITC Coalition tax site.
  • If you volunteer in multiple roles, please choose the position that you think will best suit you this second position:
